House Rent in DHA Lahore: What to Check Before Renting

By ApnaGar Editorial · Published 8 Oct 2026 · Last updated 8 Oct 2026

How rent in DHA Lahore is usually set, what to ask the landlord, and the paperwork a tenant should keep.

Renting in DHA Lahore is different from renting in an older neighbourhood because security, maintenance and utilities are managed at the phase level. Here is what to look at before signing.

How rent is usually set

Rent depends on the phase and block, house size in marla or kanal, construction age, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and whether the house is furnished. The fastest way to see the going rate is to compare several current rental listings of the same size in the same phase. Browse houses for rent and filter by area and bedrooms.

Questions to ask the landlord

  • Who pays maintenance, security and sewerage charges?
  • Are electricity, gas and water meters in good condition and are bills cleared?
  • What is the security deposit and when is it refunded?
  • How much notice is required to leave, and is there an annual rent increase clause?
  • Are repairs the landlord's or tenant's responsibility?

Paperwork a tenant should keep

  • A written tenancy agreement on stamp paper, signed by both parties and witnesses
  • Copy of the landlord's CNIC and ownership proof
  • Tenant information form for local police registration where required by authorities
  • Receipts for every rent and deposit payment

Before moving in

Photograph every room, fittings and meters on the day of handover and share them with the landlord by message. This protects your deposit when you leave.

Tax rates, stamp duty and fees change with each federal and provincial budget. Treat this guide as a checklist of what to ask about and confirm current rates with FBR, the Punjab Revenue Authority, the Excise & Taxation department or a tax adviser before you pay.
